Real estate

The questions that arise in connection with real estate and construction are increasingly regulated by law, while at the same time more and more case law is being handed down with concrete guidance on how to interpret the law.

The Nova has had real estate as a pillar of expertise since 1995, where the real estate department consists of close to 10 lawyers.

We have specialized in the following niches within property:

Construction

Are you a contractor who needs guidance on which standard you should use or how to handle ongoing complaints? Or have you ended up in a dispute with the client about the final settlement or that a change order is refused? This is what we deal with on a daily basis and we have built up a solid contracting department at Nova. We assist builders, contractors and subcontractors in all phases of the construction project.

Unit manager Stein-Ivar Gamlem is a non-formal construction lawyer who helps contractors with any questions they may have.

Long-term lease

Are you a tenant or land owner who is wondering about the regulation of the attachment fee, redemption or the extension of the attachment agreement? Then you have come to the right place.

Long-term lease is perhaps one of the most dynamic areas of law in real estate. This area of law is not something you can work on over and over to master the subject. With us, we have dozens of cases for landowners and parties at any given time. Nova are the permanent land title lawyers for one of Norway’s largest land title associations, and are well known as the counterparty for Norway’s largest landowner.

The person in charge is Aki Viitala, and he is regarded as a jovial and professionally strong problem solver.

Neighbor disputes

Can you drive to the cottage over the neighbour’s property? Who owns parts of the property that border both yours and your neighbour’s plot? Can the neighbor build a garage on your property? What rights you have on your and your neighbour’s plot is something we often deal with in our everyday work. The problems often concern the interpretation of an easement or the assertion of a right of way or property.

This is the everyday life of our unit manager, Eivind Wekre, and he is happy to help you with any questions that have arisen.

Construction of a new home

Building a home is one of life’s biggest and most important projects for many. We are often engaged by both builders and consumers who disagree about whether the home actually turned out as agreed. As we have broad experience from both sides of the table, we ensure that right is right. The most common cases we handle are the conclusion of an agreement on the construction of a new home, withholding of remuneration, complaints, ongoing sparring and termination of the agreement. We also have one of Norway’s best networks of valuers.

Assisting home buyers – and sellers

Bought or sold a home with flaws? We make sure that you get what was agreed – or that you get the right compensation with price reductions and compensation. We are no strangers to raising the home purchase either, if what you have uncovered is sufficiently serious. Nova handles hundreds of claims a year, and for a long time was used as the main collaboration partner for one of Norway’s largest insurance companies. Several of our lawyers have extensive experience from home sellers’ insurance companies, so we know exactly where the shoe presses in such cases.

Feel free to contact the unit manager, Carl Christian Nordengen, if you need someone to talk to about your housing matter.
